The single most difficult interview for me to arrange was one with an adult who survived that brand of daily trauma. Victims refused to discuss it. These grown children largely honored their parents, despite being severely abused/neglected by them.

One husband told me that his wife refused to let him go into the business he was passionate about, because of what it was like for her to be raised in a profit-first home office.
